  New Year Blog 2023 Here We Go! Already a week into 2023 and it seems like it was yesterday, and we were celebrating the New Year. Actually, I was in bed asleep by 10:00 on New Year’s Eve and didn’t celebrate 2023 till I was having my coffee and quiet time with God early on New Year’s Day! There you go, my confession and admittance that I am old and need my sleep. I would like to start out this year with a few thoughts for us to chew on, contemplate and ask ourselves as we walk this journey called 2023, reminding ourselves to remain vertically focused on Jesus, spend thoughtful time with our Papa God and always elevate the Holy Spirit to execute every aspect of life. So, if you have some time, read on and I pray you are encouraged, challenged, and reminded of how important your life is to Him.   Fall '22 MiLO - Blog 10 These Boots Tell a Story Making it home late Wednesday night after an over 20 hour layover in Amsterdam, 10 1/2 hour flight and a 2 hour pick up at the terminal at IAH, I was never so happy to be back home in my Baby Doll's arms and to sleep in my own bed. It doesn’t get much better than that. Especially when I realize I flew 6,000 miles and it took me only 2 days and I look at what Mary, the mother of Jesus had to go through to travel from Nazareth to Bethlehem while pregnant with Jesus. A distance of 90 miles over rough terrain and on dangerous roads, while walking or riding a donkey, that would have taken at least 4 days. No complaints here! I was actually blessed with a completely empty row and was able to lay down and sleep a little, and while awake I had a constant view of a sunset for 8 of those 10 ½ hours, while we headed west.   Me in my row View of the sunset out my window that lasted for 8 hours.  Beautiful.   Parting Is Such Sweet Sorrow, But Knowing You’ll Meet Again Brings Comfort I’m beginning to feel like Tom Hanks in the movie "Terminal." The airlines cancelled my original flight and bumped it up a day earlier. That put me in Amsterdam airport 22 hours and 3 minutes before my next flight to Houston. I grin when I think of last night when I was wandering the halls of this massive airport and not a soul in sight. While I’m writing this I have 6 hours remaining in my home away from home before riding the bird 10 and a half hours home to Houston. There were some memorable events during my stay and a nice KLM lounge they let me have access to!  However, I’m ready to get back home into my Baby Doll's arms.   Empty Amsterdam airport at 3:30 in the morning. Lounge access was a lifesaver.   Fall '22 MiLO - Blog 8 God’s Provision and Protection, It’s Around Every Turn and Up Every Hill What a blessing this mission has been; both in getting things accomplished here at H i S House and at the missionary house of Daniel and Kate. No doubt we have had our share of difficulties with rainy weather and limited supplies needed, but made the most out of what we had and got a lot done. We also had the blessing of spending time with many we have known over the years and the opportunity to share life with them while we were here.   Grave site of Neven's mother For instance, the loss of a great friend's mother while I was here allowed me to walk beside him and share prayers and hugs at one of his lowest times. It was a difficult time for Neven and his family, and having this time with him was a blessing for both of us. Fall '22 MiLO - Blog 7 God’s Plan at His Pace is Always The Best Way to Travel We have no control over the weather, timing and availability of supplies is not in our hands; but attitude and response is something we do have a say so! We have a choice. We can react or respond. With self in control, we will most always react, but when spirit takes over, we will always respond. That choice takes a conscious decision on our part to set self aside (self-evacuate), which allows the Spirit to elevate. It’s remembering it’s not about who we are, but in whose we are. To get to that perspective, it’s all in the SE. Self-Evacuate, Spirit Elevate. Choosing to allow the spirit to respond takes a conscious choice to not self-react; and when you do that, you speak with a loudspeaker turned all the way up.
