Summer 2023 MiLO - Blog 12

Share Where God Opens the Door Ever wondered what happened to something you swore was right there where you left it and then you go to find it and it’s not there! Well, I have started this blog several times and through the frustration of getting used to a keyboard on a computer, verses a thumb technique of typing the blogs on my phone, I seemed to have lost what I have typed, and I am starting over again. My fingers have forgotten to reach for the correct letters and my mind has forgotten where those letters were located and trying to type one sentence has been a burden and time-consuming process.   I will say that the jet lag has hit me harder this time than in years past. Thirty-five hours of traveling and over 22 hours in planes did me in. I am glad to be back home in my Baby Doll’s arms and on Texas soil, but to not frustrate myself further, I have asked Heidi, our community director for HiS Print, to share an experience she had on one of her last days in Croatia and was asked to

Summer MiLO Blog 11 No Matter How Small The Victory, It’s Always Sweet! The Apostle John states that “our faith” is the victory that overcomes the world. The original Greek terms translated as “our faith” in 1 John 5:4, refer to putting our trust in the saving work of Jesus Christ or believing in the gospel’s message. Anyone who believes in Jesus for salvation and trusts in Christ’s atoning work on the cross—His death and resurrection—shares in His victory over sin, death, and the forces of evil at work in the world. Through faith, we believe in Jesus Christ and are born of God, Galatians 2:16. Through faith, we surrender our wills to His. Our faith is the key to victory. The only way to overcome the world is through faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 17:33.  We Christians will still battle with sin and darkness because we live in a fallen world. John makes it clear that life here o

Summer MiLO Blog 10 Missions Purpose & Challenge Throughout scripture you can see that God has a missionary heart. His love for the people He created was to love them where they were and provide them an opportunity to ask why. John 3:16 shows the depth of God’s love and His desire to save creation from its depriving by sacrificing His only son. Some other Biblical examples are found in Genesis 3:15, Genesis 12:3, Psalm 67, Psalm 96, Isaiah 49:6, Jonah 1:1-2.  We see Jesus and His passion for the lost and example He set for us to follow: Matthew 9:35-38, Matthew 22:34-39, Mark 1:17, Mark 2:13-17, Luke 6:45, Luke 10:25-37. God's plan and heart is mission oriented.  Jesus shares three responsibilities for all Christ followers: Great Commission: make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20) Great Commandment: love others (Matthew 22:33-40, John 13:34-35) Great Compassion: help others (Mark 6:34, Luke 19:10) WHY MISSIONS? For God so loved the world and wants all to hear the message that all w

Summer MiLO Blog 9 Remain Humble and Enjoy the Ride God has really dealt with me on this MiLO on what I need to be as a disciple of Christ and are my actions, and most importantly, is my attitude displaying His love. I love coming to Croatia, it’s my home away from home, but God has knocked me to my knees and brought me down off my high horse several times while on these MiLO’s, the true meaning of being on My Learning Opportunity with HiS Print.  The past several days it had been pride that has been elevated and the devastation it can cause if not kept in check. Believe me it will creep in unannounced and shout its arrival through an action or word that is not Christ like.   Having that attitude will always cause you trouble. It’s that pursuit of sitting at the best seat at the table that Jesus warned us about in scripture, (Luke 14:7-11). God has shown me while here that I need to in constant evaluation and I hope to carry with me home; pride gets in the way of our ministry of love a

Summer 2023 MiLO Blog 8 Don't Let It Get To You How can we avoid letting: Concern become worry Doubt become fear Scared become afraid Disappointment become anger   Intentional become mechanical Serving become work Desire become duty Opportunity become responsibility  Struggles become excuses  Expectation become entitlement  Grace become cheapened By NOT doing them in Your own strength.  All things should be done with, through and by the Holy Spirit.  1 John 4:19 - We love because He first loved us! A great reminder for us is to write our plans in pencil and hand God the eraser. We should never write our plans in ink or try keep the eraser from God. He’s the master and protector of all things.  Proverbs 16:1-3 Had we placed expectations over God’s providence we would have been discouraged and possibly given up hope in what occurred on Saturday afternoon prior to putting on the Texas Carnival street event. It’s been four years since we have had one in the river park in downtown Sisak
