God’s Plan at His Pace is Always The Best Way to Travel

We have no control over the weather, timing and availability of supplies is not in our hands; but attitude and response is something we do have a say so! We have a choice. We can react or respond. With self in control, we will most always react, but when spirit takes over, we will always respond. That choice takes a conscious decision on our part to set self aside (self-evacuate), which allows the Spirit to elevate. It’s remembering it’s not about who we are, but in whose we are. To get to that perspective, it’s all in the SE. Self-Evacuate, Spirit Elevate. Choosing to allow the spirit to respond takes a conscious choice to not self-react; and when you do that, you speak with a loudspeaker turned all the way up. Is the faith we claim evident in the life that we live? If you joined the Jesus team, it’s His name that is boldly placed across your chest and you care very little about the name that is on the back of the jersey.

Wednesday

Work continued inside the "Upper Room"

We continued our work projects on Wednesday and then in the afternoon, we delivered food to 6 families around Sisak. We have been doing this with Desa and her husband, who run the local food pantry, for the past 8 years and it has been a blessing to work with her and provide for the families they know and work with who are in need. We split into two groups and had a wonderful time of fellowship, hearing their story, telling them a little about ours and then prayer. We were able to minister and provide to a family from Ukraine, another family from Azerbaijan, two families from Syria and two from Croatia. The visits with the children were special and the stories of difficulties and struggles for the families was heart wrenching. This is always a special blessing for those who come over to serve with us, so that they can go visit homes and see into others hearts who are struggling. We finish the visit with a prayer and desires to return to help in the future.

Thursday & Friday

Thursday we said goodbye to our new friends from California, as they headed back to Austria and home. Having them here was huge in helping us divide and conquer the work that needed to be done here at HiS House and up in Zagreb at Daniel and Kate’s house. It is always sad to see them go, but you know deep down in your heart you will see them again. Thursday and Friday was spent doing a lot of work outside to finish the mortar between the bricks out in the new addition of the café and the bricks in the Upper Room. We had to dodge the rain and many times get wet when we didn’t, but we got those projects completed. Then we had the unexpected happen. The tiles in the café around the wood burning heating stove became loose and threatened to fall. While working on the wall, we noticed a severe leak coming from the stove pipe and it was causing the tiles to loosen. Fixing that leak was difficult because of the consistent and constant rain. We finally dried the wall and then began the repair. We took the entire wall of tiles surrounding the stove down, cleaned the grout off them, resurfaced the wall and reapplied the mud necessary to make the tiles stick and stay in place. It was hard work but with the help of our friends Vuk and Nikolia from Serbia who came to visit, we were able to make it all happen in a day.

Vuk and Nikolia came over from Serbia and spent one night with us. We had a wonderful visit, they cooked us an amazing array of meats and we sat and visited. They both have become dear friends of mine and they usually make every effort to drive to HiS House when I am in town. Vuk is the reason why HiS Print has been able to take the message of Christ, through American football camps, into Serbia. When I first met him in 2016, Vuk was a Jewish atheist by claim but loved how we taught the game and treated the players. So he invited us and pushed the Serbian Federation to allow us to come and share. The rest is history. Vuk is no longer a Jewish atheist, he is a Jewish brother in Christ. To tell all the story leading up to this moment would take a book to write, but let me tell you that if you're interested in hearing, I am always blessed to share!

Lastly, let me tell you the story of Zdanko and a pair of boots. Actually, I am going to show you a picture of Zdanko and me and then will tell you the story in another blog. It is a great example of loving people where they are and till they ask why.  And that "why?" doesn’t take long when the love touches them in ways they can’t explain.

God bless and remember Jesus loves you and so do I!
HE DID IT!
