The Journey In Life – Take It One Step At A Time
For me and others that may be reading this, that first step in
life is not even a distant memory. If we could remember that
first step, I am sure we would see those around us, encourage
us to take it, be amazed when we did and cheer for us to make
more! Then it’s not long after those first steps, we take on
our mobile journey in life, which is when our steps start to
get restricted. Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, as
well as babysitters are trying to keep us contained and
restrict where we go for our safety and everyone, especially
the parents wish, in the back of their minds, they would have
never encouraged us to take that first step. We become an
uncontainable and uncontrollable human who is taking a journey
of life that is full of curiosity and not knowing any better,
we walk into the midst of danger, because we don’t know the
difference between what is safe and harmful. We just want to
travel and have the freedom to explore, never taking into
consideration the consequences where our next step may lead
us. Praise God for parents and those who care for us to help
us walk in the way of safety and learn the path of discernment
as we grow up. We can all equate that with
our own journey with God. He gives us freedom of choice, but
not freedom of consequences. The first step in our journey
with God is whether we choose Him or not, Because of God’s
great love He allows us to choose Him or the world. He loves
the world but forgives only those who step toward Jesus and
accept Him as their Savior. That comes with the freedom of
choice, but not the freedom of the consequences of that
choice. Him or Hell? The same with Christ followers. He gives
all of us a choice of whether to just sign on with Him as our
Savior, “our get out of Hell free card”, or to live for Him as
our Lord and commit our life to Him. Savior or Lord? We could
take another step in that journey with God by asking
ourselves, are we still holding on to something that doesn’t
allow us to completely commit all that we are? Half or Fully
Committed? Remember Jesus said in order to follow Him we
needed to deny ourselves, pick up the cross and follow Him on
the journey of an Eternal lifetime! That Eternal lifetime
journey begins the moment we accept Jesus as our Savior. John
17:3 It’s not some distant destination that becomes our goal
but is a step-by-step journey that shows the love that comes
from God and willing to show that to others.
