How Do You Measure Success?

What a whirlwind of activity since i landed on Monday and several of the team members have started to gather. Saturday was moving day which involved transitioning from the mission team that was here, to our team taking over HiS House. The 22 member mission team that was here came to work with the Roma (Gypsy) villages around Sisak. They come in from another city, east of Croatia and several from the states to meet here and put on VBS and teen camps for the children in those villages. They have been utilizing HiS House for years for that purpose and it’s a blessing to witness how God uses HiS House to share His love through so many teams. Janko, the owner of HiS House opens his heart and home, so people can come and love on people here in Sisak. We have had the privilege and blessing to help in the construction of the house for this purpose. It is a place we feel at home and it’s always a blessing to see and spend time with our dear and loved brother Janko, the Gentle Giant.

The rest of our HiS Print team arrives today from the states and our football coaches, Mike and Brandon, return from east Croatia! Our team will be 16 strong and we are excited to allow God use us as He desires.

Mike and Brandon have spent time in Serbia with Vukasin and yesterday came back to Croatia to put on a mini camp for the Osijek Cannons American Football Team. They have had a wonderful time and I’ll ask them to write up something to share their experience in a future blog.
Lisa and Hosanna busy cleaning and changing out the rooms for our team to arrive.
Huge blessing with the other team members, Robert and Steve, chipping in on the process. It’s quite a task to change out sheets off 20 beds and clean 10 rooms, 5 bathrooms and one large cafe and to wash sheets and towels. But God put the best team together to accomplish and what a blessing it is! And actually God gave us additional days to get it done, when the team started heading out on Friday and the rest on Saturday. What we originally thought was going to have to be done all on Sunday, turned in to having more time, which allows us to go worship and rest today. God’s desire and plan all along! Love it!
It’s always a blessing to meet up with someone you have gotten to know over years and years of coming and putting on a baseball camp. Watching them grow up and seeing them again is always a blessing. Meet Iggy! A long time camper who is all grown up and working in McDonald’s. Got him to stop his cleaning long enough to say hello and take a picture.

Finished Saturday night visiting with Stefan and Mario visiting us here at HiS House. They are former Sisak Storks who I’ve known for 19 years. Stefan and I talked and prayer together and brought up many beautiful memories from the past. A very Blessed time together. He and his wife are headed to USA and then to her home country Mexico for a month.

Stay tuned for more to come as we walk out God’s plan and His will while on mission here in Croatia. Excited to get the team all together this evening and preparations start Monday for the rest of the week’s planned and unplanned activities. We prayed and have written our plans in pencil and then handed them over to God along with the eraser. We will see what He sees fit for us to do! Obeying Him with trusting in His plan when it might not match up with yours! That’s how you measure success.

HE DID IT!
David
