2022 Fall MLO - Blog 1

Fall '22 MLO - Blog 1

Today, I embark for our Fall/Winter MiLO (My Mission Learning Opportunity) to Croatia! It is exciting to return to my home away from home at HiS House in Sisak, Croatia, but I leave behind family and responsibilities here at home. My bride will not be able to make this mission and I already miss her. Our plan was for her to join me, but our plans are not always God’s. I have learned the hard way, that following any plan except God’s, brings disappointment and often frustration. She was unable to get off work and will have to stay back here in Texas and hold down the fort. Please pray for His protection over her while I am away. God’s protection physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. She has been such a blessing and gift these past 32 years of marriage, which we just celebrated on Thursday, November 3. Thank you, God, for such a wonderful helpmate.

In these past two years and all that we have gone through in our family and my health, not to mention all the chaos in this world, I have learned to trust Him more when it comes to my plan. To walk with God takes a mind shift, for us to stop preparing a plan and plan to be prepared for His plan. Praying God’s will to be done and not ours, takes patience and protection, so you are prepared when your plan, your agenda doesn’t happen. Romans 12:2, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

Pray, that we will follow His Plan and ask for patience and endurance to travel it at His Pace. All this being said, that doesn’t mean you don’t have the responsibility to prepare, because we all do. It’s like the two farmers who are in a draught and they both pray for rain. One goes out to prepare his field by planting the seeds, the other sits and waits for the rain. Whose prayer is God going to answer?  No reason to answer the farmer who didn’t prepare his field, the rain wouldn’t produce a crop. Yet the one whose field was prepared, God rained down and a harvest resulted. To pray God’s will to be done, means we will be able to go with the flow on His path when it takes on twists and turns and speeds up or slows down to a crawl. When His Plan becomes your Plan, you’ll walk life a lot less frustrated.

Okay enough preaching and let me share what God has planned for this mission. As I mentioned, I am leaving today November 4 and will return on the 23. We have 13 others joining the MiLO from all over the nation. We have people from Maine to California, from Colorado to Texas, which just about covers the four corners of America. They will be coming at different times throughout my time there. We have prepared a plan to do some much-needed construction projects around HiS House, help some missionaries in Zagreb with some home improvements, work at our local warehouse with some organizing and if possible, to help a dance studio to do a facelift to the front of their building. We also have planned some food and prayer deliveries with the food pantry and to visit others we walk life with during our missions in the spring and summer. We are prepared to go where He calls us and to accomplish what we can and, in the process, share His love through serving those we meet.

I’ll share more from the other side of the pond. I appreciate each one of you for your support. God has used each of you to touch the lives of those whom God places in our path. This is all made possible by His provision through you. HE DID IT for us? Let’s Do IT for others! Wherever He calls you to go and with whomever you meet, by loving them where they are and loving them till they ask why! How? “As I have loved you.” Jesus’ own words from the new command to love one another, He gave His disciples in John 13 and for us to carry out today.

God bless and remember Jesus loves you and so do I!
HE DID IT! Let’s Do IT!
