Heart Skips a Beat

Ever had that situation where your heart feels like it skips a beat or your mind begins to race because you felt like you were in trouble? That happened to me today when I was standing out in the middle of our driveway beside HiS Place, directing Lee, who is two stories up on the roof working on the chimney. While standing there, up drives a police car! I immediately begin to think of what I did wrong, where was my passport and was I in trouble for something, maybe they saw Lee up on the roof while they were driving by. My reaction was to either go and hide or call out to Janko, so I immediately yelled out to Janko so he could deal with them and save me from being taken away. Not to forget, that while I’m being distracted by going through all this in my head, Lee is still on the roof.

As the doors open on both sides of the police car, I notice Janko is nowhere to be found and I’ve already been seen so I can’t hide. In trouble now was all I could think.

That all happened before they even got out of the car. Well, out steps Zacko, a dear friend of mine that I’ve gotten to know these past several years, through the ice hockey and figure skating clubs. I turned and gave him a big ole Texas hug and was relieved inside, knowing I wasn’t going into the slammer. We visited only for a short moment because he was on duty, but what a blessing it was to have his visit at HiS House.
Zacko, Janko and Me.  God has a way of getting your attention!

Completing the work at HiS House has been a blessing to witness and see the results of freshly plastered and painted walls gives HiS House a fresh look. We are also busy in the kitchen making cookies and preparing cakes for our HiS Print party on Saturday. Sharon and Ella are mixing and baking and the cafĂ© smells wonderful. Martina and Lordan stopped by and she joined them in the kitchen and had a wonderful time working together and having fellowship. Lordan entertained us with his piano playing.

We had 4 more members join our team on Friday with Michael Johnston (Jellystone) coming in from Austria and bringing 3 members from his home church in California with him. Michael and his bride have moved to the mission field in Austria, along with their daughter. I saw them in the summer when they all come down to HiS House for a few days to visit me while I was in country. At that time, I told him about wanting to put a mission together to do some house improvements and construction projects. He immediately thought of several people he would like to invite. What a blessing it is to have them here.

Work continued as we moved on from one room to the next and should be completely painted out on the first floor by Saturday evening. It has been great to have all the hands on deck to accomplish the tasks.
Jelly on the ground sleeping or painting, not sure!
Sharron and Ella finished the cookies and needed an expert hand at icing them, so they called in a professional from the local baking school that specializes in desserts. As you can see from the details that each, hat, cactus, pumpkin and boot got, it was well worth the investment. I couldn’t have done it better myself! (In case you hadn’t figured it out, I was the expert.)

Saturday morning was spent finishing up the painting, doing some electrical work and Joe took the ladies shopping to get the list of food items and personal hygiene products for the food pantry delivery. We had to stop the entire work being accomplished around the house just to unload the van before the rain come in. Later this coming week we will be delivering to several local families as well as those misplaced by the war in the Ukraine and another family here from Syria.
Electrical work that takes 6 eyes, 3 opinions and 2 hands to get done!
Food pantry shopping - enough to feed 5 families.
What a blessing this time has been.  Bringing in new people to experience HiS House is always a joy! This morning during devotions, I taught on Luke 6 and the love we need to share with our enemies and those we don’t think deserve it. Jesus said, “To those who are listening”. May we all listen and share that kind of love the crosses barriers and walls to extend love that shows Jesus.

God bless and remember Jesus loves you and so do I!
HE DID IT!
Let’s Do IT!
