Summer MLO Blog 3

What a scurry of activity that we have going on at HiS House with the soccer coaches spending devotional time and breakfast with us every morning before they start their busy day of camp and other activities they do with the campers. It gives me pleasure and brings back memories, because it reminds me of our teams when we are here doing camps and other community service activities in the city. I look forward to having our teams return in the near future.

HiS House is finally finished with the café, kitchen and new bathroom stage. Those additions are so key for supporting and accommodating large groups. The walk into the café used to be gravel but now has nice pavers that allows us to track in less dirt when entering the café and kitchen.

The grape vines on the front porch are in full bloom and many clusters of grapes are starting to appear. The shade that the vine provides under the porch roof is an additional cooling layer and greatly appreciated during these hot days. The temperatures have been in the lower to mid 90’s which is unusual.

We were blessed by the Ambassador group by desiring to purchase a need for HiS House. So after Jacob, their leader and myself met and discussed our needs, they purchased and installed a new clothes washer and dryer for us to use to support teams and their laundry needs. The bought one of the larger capacity washers and for the first time we will have the use of a dryer, instead of counting on the weather drying it on the clothes line! What a Huge Huge Blessing!

When I found out that we would be hosting this team of 18 people, I told Janko to go hire a local person to come and help cook and keep the kitchen in order. We were blessed by Kristina and her help in kitchen was matchless! She prepared the food every morning and cleaned up the café and kitchen every morning after the team left for camp. She was an absolute joy to have around. Josep has come a few days to help out as well. They are sitting with me in the group photo at the table. I see us doing this every time we have teams coming, including HiS Print teams to HiS House. This will be an encouragement to them as time is spent with them, provide some much needed income for several people and allow the teams to have some authentic Croatian cuisine.

On this trip over we brought three extra bags of equipment and supplies for the different teams and ministries we share life with. Here you see Coach Daniel from Zagreb with a small amount of the 100 pounds of baseball equipment we brought for them. Items like these are very precious and used to play the game they love and don’t have the means or funds necessary to buy the equipment necessary.

God continues to bless and provide, and we are excited to be a part of His distribution of love through all the avenues He provides; whether it be hosting teams, loving on locals, providing equipment or just loving people where they are and in such a way they ask why! It is so good to be back with Janko, the Gentle Giant and Crazy Man, sharing His love at HiS House across Sisak and throughout Croatia! Remember Jesus loves you and so do I!

HE DID IT!
