Sister City Adoption

Hello Folks,

Wow, I have been through the gamut of emotions as well as experience this past week! Last Monday I had the opportunity to visit with the Honorary Consulate to Croatia who is from Houston and lives in West University Place and the Croatian Ambassador who is from Croatia and lives in Washington D.C.
Then I had kidney surgery/procedure (lithotripsy) this Monday and am now home recovering.  This is my 4th bout with kidney stones and praying it will be the last. No pictures of me going through this process, nothing good to see there, just to read Romans 5:1-5 and rejoice in being justified by Christ and also rejoice in struggles because of how it develops us!

While home recovering, I was told by a friend that there was an article in the Houston Chronicle Newspaper, in the Bellaire/West University/River Oaks section about a sister city adoption between West University and Sisak, Croatia! This was the purpose of my meeting with the Ambassador and the Honorary Consulate to Croatia last Monday. We went together in front of the City Council of West U to present the idea of a sister city relationship between the two cities that have been united for over 10 years through donated baseball equipment! West University Little League has been donating equipment to HiS PRINT since 2006 and has blessed the children there through their generosity. The article from the paper is below!

God's perfect timing to help me get my mind off the pain and on His handiwork in bringing this all together.

While this was going on here, 6000 miles away at HiS HOUSE in Sisak, a sports ministry seminar was being held with a speaker from The Netherlands and brothers and sisters from The Balkans learning to use sport as a way to share and spread the gospel. God at work!

Please continue to pray for all that is going on with this summer's Mission Learning Opportunity (June 22-July 14). We have over 20 people going from the USA and have several teams coming from different countries to participate in the camps, both football and baseball!

Lastly, we are preparing to send off another shipment of sports equipment! We continue to be blessed by the donations from around the city and the country that we have enough to send another 40 foot container filled with 16,000 pounds. This will be our 4th shipment and up to 50,000 pounds sent. What started out as taking extra luggage of 50 pounds for those going on the mission since 2006 is now 20 and 40 foot shipping containers filled to the brim and ready to distribute to those less fortunate over the past 3 years! God is so good and thank you for your support!

God bless each of you and have a wonderful God filled day!

David
