July 6: Two Teams - One Message
We have one team back in Sisak doing the library program, going to an orphanage, working with the young Stork baseball team and sorting equipment from the shipment while the other portion of our team has been in Ljubljana, Slovenia conducting football camps. In fact, we just returned from our first ever three-day American football camp in Slovenia. It was a gigantic success!
At the football camp we had 11 young flag footballers and 27 tackle footballers and both groups did an amazing job of paying attention and showing respect. It was a lot of fun to watch our team form relationships while teaching the game. The players and coaches were like sponges, trying to learn as much as they could. On the first day, I shared with the group the role of the football center position and how no play can start without him. I then tied that in with how Jesus is the center of our lives and we don't start a day, plan, work or play without Him! The rest of the coaches shared the other days at each of the two-a-day practices!
God really opened some doors there but also one Serbian coach came and brought 4 players with him. We talked several times to make plans for a future camp in Serbia. Viki, the club President for the Mustangs, did a wonderful job of organizing. We are looking forward to coming back next year to grow these relationships deeper.
I spent most of the three days in Slovenia with the flag (10 and under) team. They were a real pleasure to be around and very eager to learn. Their coach, Mitez, was remarkable. Joe, Brandon and Cord handled the older team while Robert Cissell and I handled the young ones. It was a precious time and they finished our time with them by preparing a picnic. Good eats, Great friends! It don't get much better than that!
We made it back to HiS HOUSE about 9 this evening. The drive through the countryside was so remarkable. Castles and little villages around every corner and over every mountain top. It was great to be back at the house and catch up with everyone here!
The group back in Sisak got a lot accomplished and were blessed by the participation at all the venues. Close to 80 children attended our events at one of the libraries! The orphanage is always delighted to have us, too. Each person who participates comes away with hearts that are touched and blessed beyond measure.
Sis has done an amazing job of lining all things up and organizing with each administrator at all of the places. The team has walked united with the power and love of the Holy Spirit leading us! Please keep the team in your prayers and for more and more opportunities to be His light of love!
Thanks again for all of your prayers and support of my father. He is doing much better. Actually, when I called to talk with him this evening he was having meatloaf and mashed potatoes, blended into a smoothie. He was so excited to taste, he didn't care how he had to eat it!!
Love you and remember so does Jesus!
