Football Camp Day 2

Hello Folks,

Day 2 of football camp was a great thing to witness because the team began to gel together and work harder than the day before. You could tell they were tired and sore from the first day and at the beginning they weren't sharp and were going through the first few drills in slow motion. The coaches didn't allow that and pulled them together and explained the purpose for dedication and hard work in every drill at every practice. The tempo picked up and the team began to participate at a whole new level. There was a new sense of work ethic and they began to challenge themselves to be the best they could be. They began to pick each other up when someone didn't do a particular drill correct, instead of make fun or ridicule them. Changing that mentality will be a huge step in developing a unified team effort  that we pray will stick with them once we leave.

After the practice I gave the devotional talk and spoke on trust, what it meant and asked if they trusted us. They all answered that they did and respected us for coming these 3 years. I then asked them did they trust we taught on the field? And again they answered they did and then I asked them, if they trusted with the knowledge we had for football and trusted as friends who had been coming for the past three years, did they think we were telling them lies or something that wasn't true when it came to talking about our faith in Christ. I laid the Bible down on the ground in front  of me and asked them if they believed in it? I told them it was okay if they didn't, as long as they didn't for the right reason. The only way they could say they didn't believe it was if they had actually read it and investigated whether it was true or not. The result of that investigation was between them and God, all that we wanted to do is challenge them to investigate, don't just say they didn't believe because someone else told them it wasn't true. I think that struck home to all of them and they respected logic behind it. Our prayer is that they will take the next step and actually attempt to read and investigate and give it a chance to change their hearts.

God is at work here in Split amongst the Sea Wolves and only the Holy Spirit can do the changing of the hearts, but being here and spreading the good news is what God has called us to do. After a great practice and share time we went out to dinner as a mission team and took a couple of players with us and had a great time of fellowship! We were down on the water and the night was beautiful and the water reflected the lights of the city! Great day, great friends and a Great God we serve!

Remember Jesus loves you and so do I!
